Attention:

– The target disk must be larger than the source disk.
– Please backup files in target hard drive before cloning. Any files in target hard drive will be overwritten when offline clone works.
– Please make sure that there aren’t any bad sectors on the drives in use, as to avoid data transfer errors, overheating and damage to the station.
– Do not try to remove your HDD or SSD device while it is active. Please power off the docking station before removing.

Here is the TeckNet docking station next to a regular 3.5″ HDD for a size reference. On the top side we have the 2x bays that both support either 2.5″ HDD/SDDs or 3.5″ HDDs.

Testing methodology

 

Given the nature of this product, we will only do some file transfers because that’s the main purpose of it.

Hardware:

– Video card: MSI GTX 980 Ti 6G TwinFrozr V Gaming
– Case: Thermaltake V1 Core mITX
– Fans: 1x Thermaltake 200 mm

Test subjects:

– 1x 2.5″ HGST 7K1000 1 TB 7200 RPM 32 MB Buffer (For size references only)
– 2x 3.5″ WD 1 TB SAMSUNG HD103UJ 7200 RPM 32 MB Buffer (Identical drives for unbiased results)

Software:

– Windows 10 Pro x64 Build 1511.10586
– 20 GB of mixed file to be copied.

Testing and Results

 

First copy test is from our M.2 SSD drive onto one of the drives.

Then the second test is from on drive to another.

The test drives are a few years old thus the numbers are pretty decent so we can say that there is no bottleneck from the TeckNet Docking Station.

 

Conclusion

 

A very good product that does exactly what does very good what it is supposed to do.

The good:

– Good build quality
– Elegant design
– Offers versatility on the go
– 2.5″ and 3.5″ HDD/SDD compatible
– Offline cloning
– Activity LEDs
– Up to 5 Gbps speed transfers

The bad:

– A little on the high price side but give the overal vuild quality, it’s worth it we may think
– Nothing really to complain about
