Rides - Episode 4 Come Fly With Black

Folks, we did it again.
History will repeat itself as we already know.

But, first, why do we like cars?

Quite simply because they usually are the symbol of freedom.(at least for us)
Our world infrastructure let us hop in a car and go almost anywhere.
One of my biggest dream is to drive until there is no more road.

Luckily we have begun to fulfill this dream and much more to come.

Right…
So new country, new environment.
But that didn’t stop us to continue our passion.
Traveling and driving pleasure among many things.

But not all cars are made equal.

So, we sensed that its time to improve and we were missing our dormant E34 which was back home.
Not a viable option to bring it here and register it.

We needed a worthy successor to our Ultimate Driving Machine.
Thus we present you or new time machine.

The BMW Z3.

This is one heck of a car.
With it its all about smiles per miles.

I mean its over 18 years old and just look at it !
Dam.

Now the mandatory story behind it.
It was winter.
Our big trip to Scotland was months past.
No more trips for a while and soon our bubble car was on its last miles with us.

I showed Adrian this clip. (Identical scenario when we got our first BMW !)

Blow our minds … and reignited our true passion for traveling yet again with a BMW.

I looked through some ads.
And said wow, look how cheep this car is I mean who buys a convertible in winter, I then added.
Light bulbs above our heads.
No shadow of a doubt we decided to buy one.

Why?
A car like this is expensive in the summer for obvious reasons.

So we basically got it for half of the price just because it was winter.
Life is all about timing.

Bid for the car on ebay and won it just by 2 pounds vs other bidders !
Ok.
But the car was 200 miles away.
Payed the seller to bring it here and he drove it.

In my mind if the car hadn’t explode the trip here, that’s our test drive and best peace of mind.
Being very accustomed to BMW from this generation, I had no worries that we will not like or fit in the car.

The car was here in 2 days.
In the pictures looked stunning and in real life even better.
Love at first sight all over again.
These were the pictures from the ad - observe the snow.

The seller called me in that morning.
“I’m waiting outside, near a blue car.”

I hopped like a bunny rabbit and looked outside and there she was.
Ha!

The blue car was, of course our, bubble car, lending the traveling torch to the new one.

When i saw it i was just …. wow !
So small, so compact, beautiful curves and very weird proportions at first glance in real life because of that very short tail and very long nose.

You might thinks it will be hard to park or handle.
No sir, this tuned out to be one of the easiest cars to park and maneuver through any traffic or roads !

Got inside.

Oh my God it’s like in a cockpit from a jet fighter - that driver focus it is, but very comfortable.
The driving position is so good and very aggressive because of the inclined windshield.

It smelled exactly how i would expected it to be: of leather, cologne and sex.
So much pleasure just by sitting in it - just look at those leather and heated seats.

Ok, lets fire it up.
It’s a straight 4 engine 1.9 liter with 140 bhp and 180 nm torque.
M44 is the engine code.

Loud at first but that’s normal, it’s a roadster, what would you expect!
Blood started to quicken and off we went.

It was my first manual right hand drive car.
So i had some worries (only used to shift with only my right hand).
But this is a driver’s car, so, despite the fact that i haven’t driven a manual in almost a year, in just 30 seconds it all came back to me and i couldn’t get enough of driving it.

The same sense of mechanical love and amazement that we got from our E34, but here on an even better level.

That’s why we love cars like this - they became an extension of yourself.
You feel everything and thus you can trust it and it trusts you.
People say that is crazy to think of a car more that that thing that gets you A to B… but remember, it’s all about perspective.

A small test drive when i got scared of the new power it hand compared to our old blue bubble blue. 65 HP vs 140 HP.

Beside the looks, the comfortable interior, the driving experience, the ride quality etc.. then comes to the best option.

It’s a Convertible.
Ulalala.

I always loved convertibles.
In my mind as a kid they were like Optimus Prime - a Transformer.
And it’s the same thing basically but only it will transform your driving experience.

The joy and the sense of freedom are on a whole new level !

This car is one of the best decisions we made so far !

So you see folks, our advice is never stop fighting for the things you love to do because life is already short.
And the trick is karma eventually will take care of you when you make big leaps of faith.

With this car life became so simple for us.
Do our jobs and when the weekend came, we just rode.
Rain or shine, we ride.

Expensive you say.
No.
We payed for it the price of 2x Samsung Note 4 smartphones.
So you decide if you prefer this or the latter.

The car is in excellent shape because usually things like this tend to get attention and love from mostly all who owned it i mean it’s a car build for fun. Full service history and stock form.

Again, the scenario is identical with the e34 - proving yet again that such a car is the one who will choose you.
Why?
Because it has everything we want and need but no too much to give us maintenance trouble.
By this i mean full comfort with leather and heated seats but with manual roof so no electrical problems.

Mechanical simple engine and manual gearbox to maxim the feedback and connection with it
So all the above means more reliable.
Not much to say than not even if we wanted we could have picked a better car !

Ah what i said about everything is connected in our world.
Who also had a Z3?
James Bond of course.
So we think we synced perfectly with the new environment.
